Best Laptop For Under £500

What should I be looking for?

First make sure its a laptop you want. If you don’t need to be mobile and have the space, then a desktop computer will be cheaper.  If you only want to surf the internet and check emails, then consider a netbook or an iPad. However laptops for most people are the best solution, the compact mobility just makes a laptop more versatile and practical without the limitations of a netbook or iPad. The key to a decent laptop is build quality, battery life and memory (RAM). Memory is very important for the performance of your laptop and it’s not something to compromise on. Ideally you want 3 or 4GB of RAM.

Brands you can trust

Make sure you go for one of the brands with a good reputation this way you should ensure a decent build quality. The brands I trust here are Apple, HP, Compaq, Samsung, Acer, Lenovo and Toshiba. Unfortunately Apple are out of the equation here as they don’t offer a laptop for under £500 but if you can flex the budget the MacBook & MacBook Pro’s are brilliant machines.
